CHILLER PLANT OPTIMIZATION
LOCATION: NEW JERSEY, OHIO and IRELAND
CLIENT: PHARMACEUTICAL
MARKET SECTOR: SCI-TECH

THE OPPORTUNITY
To conduct in-depth analysis of existing conditions at chilled-water plants in Ireland, Ohio and New Jersey. Each site presents unique opportunities for optimization.
THE CHALLENGE
Chilled-water system challenges include open systems with storage tanks, multiple temperature requirements for chilled fluids including chilled glycol systems, and systems where demand for cooling exceeds the system capacity.
THE PS&S SOLUTION
PS&S has recommended chilled-water system improvements including:
Converting primary/secondary systems to variable primary pumping
Replacing three-way valves with two-way valves and installing variable speed pumping utilizing variable frequency drives (VFD)
Controls improvements to maintain design temperature differences and improve system efficiency
