THE OPPORTUNITY

A new 406 space parking structure was needed as part of the expansion of resident housing for Ramapo College.

THE CHALLENGE

The site was on a rocky slope, adjacent to a new campus loop road, also part of the construction process. The site was constricted due to existing wetlands and was small relative to the number of cars to be parked.

THE PS&S SOLUTION

Express ramps were used to fit the garage into the sloped site providing four levels on the lower site and three levels on the upper. This allowed horizontal spandrels, ease of circulation and way-finding while fitting this garage into the sloped site. With no area outside the garage for storm-water management, the detention was incorporated under the footprint, again helping to fit the garage into the grade.
